Chuanyue Archive is principally grounded in Jiepai, Danyang, and Nanjing, Jiangsu, with the Lower Yangtze and Jiangnan as wider regional frames for language, memory, social life, production, and local change.

Jiepai, in Danyang, is the principal local setting of Volume I, Jiepai Jianghu. It is approached as a connected local civilization unit shaped by households, kinship, village and town space, language, belief, industrial life, material environments, and historical change.

Nanjing is the principal urban setting of Volume II, Nanjing Chenfu. Together, the two volumes connect rural and urban experience within Jiangsu and the broader Lower Yangtze region of China.
