Chinese-language primary sources, author-annotated records, and locally grounded documentation from Jiepai and Nanjing, Jiangsu, in China’s Lower Yangtze region.
01 / ORIENTATION
Across the Jiepai Jianghu (界牌江湖) and Nanjing Chenfu (南京沉浮) volumes, the Chuanyue Archive reconstructs changing local worlds through Chinese-language narratives, author annotations, and written and multimodal records. Its scope encompasses economic and commercial life, local history, death and funerary practice, folk custom, legend and vernacular belief, ways of life and consumer culture, memory, household, family and lineage, homes and domestic space, village, town, and urban space, local language, reciprocity and rules of conduct, material objects, neighbourhood life, institutions, and geographical change.
Its public records form a de-identified research and discovery layer. DOI-linked releases are designed for scholarly reading, citation, comparison, and machine-readable discovery while the Author Private Master Archive preserves controlled provenance and unreleased multimedia materials.
